Healthy Travel Tips

While on your summer vacation, you should TAKE TIME TO STRECH. Long car rides and plane rides can cause swelling of your feet due to poor circulation and lack of movement. Also, drink plenty of water. Planes are especially dehydrating due to a decrease in cabin pressure.

PLAN YOUR MEALS too. Have some healthy snacks with you. Nuts, berries and dark chocolate make excellent snacks. It’s always best to eat a big meal before you travel. This will keep you from having to make less healthy food choices whether you’re on the road or in the airport.

While away from home, try to have an EXERCISE routine. Explore your destination on foot. Do lots of walking. Check out your hotel gym or a nearby fitness center. Try to dedicate just 30 minutes a day to some form of exercise. It will help clear your mind and make you feel great.

Make sure you are getting adequate REST too. You’re not supposed to come back from your vacation more tired than when you left. Try to go to bed and wake up around the same time every day. Get at least 7 hours of sleep and avoid alcohol before bedtime.
