Setting Goals:

Between what you hear on TV and what you read on the internet, eating healthy can be a real challenge. Diet books and the internet may seem like easy solutions but the best approach is the personalized service of a licensed nutritionist. Whether your goals are to break weight-loss plateaus or improve athletic performance, gain more energy, boost immunity, improve digestive health, sleep and mood, or just transforming skin and hair, our Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) can help.

Customized Programs:

It’s definitely more complicated than it seems. Nutrition is more than just counting calories. Our nutritionist can create a customized plan for you that fits specifically within your lifestyle. Whether you eat out often, or travel extensively, the nutritionist can tailor a program that is easy to follow and guide you to making better choices.

Visits and Follow up:

At your initial visit, expect to do a lot of talking while the nutritionists does a lot of listening. After learning about your health history, favorite foods, eating and exercise habits, LN or CNS will help you set goals and prioritize. Visits typically occur every two weeks for two to three months then monthly for a few months. Follow-up visits will focus on maintenance and monitoring your progress.

Managing chronic diseases:

If you’ve been diagnosed with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes or cancer it can be hard to know what to eat. Our Licensed Nutritionist can review your lab results to help you understand your condition and explain how proper nutrition can help improve your results. A customized eating plan can then be created for you that includes all the important nutrients that can help you manage your condition.

Addressing food allergies, sensitivities and intolerances:

When you suffer from conditions such as celiac disease, food allergies or lactose intolerance, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by what you can’t eat. That can translate into a boring diet and may even lead to nutrient deficiencies. Specialized diets don’t have to be bland or boring. Our nutritionist can teach you how to read food labels so you’ll know which ingredients to avoid and a help you find several substitutions to keep your diet balanced but still provide enough variety and delicious flavors to make eating enjoyable.

Beyond food:

Although we may know which food choices to make, sometimes emotions get in the way. Sometimes your significant other will not support your healthy choices. Other times you may just be binge eating because you are stressed out or depressed. Whichever the case, our nutritionist can help coach you through whatever it is that gets in your way. We are here to help you uncover your triggers and work through emotional eating patterns. We know that support is the one of the major factors in long-term habit changes.

Personalized Approach:

Most consultations occur in the office or over the phone, but if additional help is needed we are also available to visit you in your home to go through your fridge and cupboards and talk about what and where you eat. A trip to the grocery store can also be scheduled where we can walk through the aisles together and discuss products. Those that dine out often may want the experience of talking though and ordering from the menu. Cooking together is also quite fun and can be arranged at a mutually beneficial time. Whatever your needs are, we can customize a program for you to give you the tools to help you make the best decisions for you and your family.
